Author Danger! Don’t Re-read Your Book!
By: Ann Everett

Today, I’ll answer the question: If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything in your latest book?
Answer: Only if I read it again. That’s the danger for writers. No matter how many times you read your work, you’ll always find something to change!
I’ve actually gone back and changed some things in some of my books. Even added another character in one of them. That’s the beauty of self-publishing. You have control, so you can re-edit and make as many changes as you like.

Rules also change. Maybe a word was hyphenated when you first wrote your book, and since then, it’s become one word. Certain terms that were once acceptable, like she sat Indian style, is now considered inappropriate—replaced with, she sat crossed-legged. Things like that will drive you nuts if you let them. Best to write it and not read it again.
